For my magazine final cover I have stuck to a consistent house style. This includes the use of fonts , the font sizes and the color scheme. For my color scheme i have primarily used an electric blue to match the electric genre of the magazine. I have also used orange as it compliments the blue and provides a fair amount of variation on the cover. The masthead font used is reminiscent of 80s movie posters or those of a similar style ( e.g. Drive) again , to fit in with the 80s electro genre. i also added a neon blue glow to the masthead to give it the appearance of a neon sign and to give the sign a bit of depth and make it stand out form the other pieces of text on the cover. The pug used on the cover also fits in with the house style as it utilizes roughly the same colors and the same font as the other articles of text on the cover. Anchorage text for the cover uses a fairly plain text with a bold white colour. This is to make the text appear more professional and to make it stand out from the rest of the text . This is also achieved by the way it is a lot brighter than any of the other text to make it stand out alot more.

To say that DJ Sam's skyrocket into fame was sudden , would be an incredible understatement. in just a few months , he has gone from obscurity to celebrity. He has gone from playing in nightclubs in Ibiza to selling out stadiums all across is world tour. This catapult into stardom has left listeners scratching their heads and asking one question: who is he ? who is this enigmatic character making huge waves in the electro scene ? in a World's first exclusive interview , Derezz intends to find out.

Upon entering the top floor New York apartment , it was like stepping into the past. walls plastered with 80s movie posters and magazine covers. His decor looked like a 50s diner . to be honest , this room did't look like an apartment or a studio . It looked like a museum . This was until Sam presented me with his back room , a tiny recording studio with a synthesizer , guitar and drum kit." there's no band here by the way , i play all of these myself " he explains " i'm far more accustomed to doing most things by myself so that's the way i prefer to make my music"

surprisingly , Sam's music is mostly made using traditional instruments. which he adds is a " welcome refreshment from computer made electro" again adding to his classic persona. upon being questioned about this , Sam says " I've always been fascinated with the past , the fashion , the culture , the music and the movies . So i blend a lot of that into what i do . So i created this retro image for myself to bring something new to the table" . Although sat at home recording , Sam explains he is more than happy to sit in his pajamas with a cup of tea " i don't need to be dressed up smart all the time , its just an image i present to the public . something that makes me more recognizable"

the main question we've all been asking is how did he do it ? how did he shoot himself into enormous popularity in such a small amount of time ? " i honestly couldn't tell you mate . I thought i'd still be making songs on YouTube and taking any gig that was offered to me " while he may be clueless , he is most certainly grateful . " I cant stress enough how glad i am to be where i am now . its allowed me to make my music at such a higher qualities and reach new levels i never thought i'd be able to."
 he also more than willing to express his excitement on the financial side of his new found fame " i'm basically sorted for life ! I've got all the money i need to make all the music i want and to pay my bills . What more can you ask for ?"

As for talk of upcoming music , Sam was quite cryptic . " I tried to go in a new direction than my previous album ... but alas , it was pretty similar to be honest . People loved the last one so i guess i'll give them more of what they love " he also revealed the official title and release date for his new album. " If it bleeds , we can kill it" hits shelves on the 9th of February 2016.

by looking at these examples , it is clear that there are examples of some common features used throughout these pages. one of the most obvious features is  the columns of text. these typically display the page numbers and the article that accompanies them.this is THE most significant feature of the contents page as it lists the actual contents. another noticeable feature on the pages are the images scattered around the page. these are usually of the most significant artists/features of the magazine in order to grab the potential reader's attention . there may also be an advertisement , depending on the magazine. there is also usually a house style to these pages . this is the unique style and layout of the page itself . this includes text , color , font etc. this is so that the entire magazine remains consistent throughout and doesn't disorientate the reader with sudden changes. there is also text that accompany the images on the page . this is to give the images some form of anchorage and provide context for the images as to what they relate to . the layout of these pages usually tries to fit in with the genre of magazine they are . for example , the kerrang contents page is set out in quite a hectic and bold way . this is of course representative of the genre. the magazine also display their page numbers in a very consistent way. they  only say the number . there is never a "page" written next to it there is only the number. the contents title also follows the house style as the fonts used are typically the ones used on the front cover. this applies to the entire magazine's font usually.

leading and kerning explanation

leading and kerning are both effects that can be placed upon text which affects the space of it . kerning is what is done to change the space in between letters in text . this is often used to make text fit into shapes or spaces for pugs and mastheads etc.it is useful as it allows you to manipulate the size and dimensions of the text even further to suit your needs. text leading is what affects the space in between lines of text . this is useful as it once again helps to compress text in a way that suits you .

A typical convention of these magazines is the way the model is posed . most of the covers have a direct mode of addressing as they are looking directly into the camera which creates the impression that they are looking at the reader .
the clothing choice on the models is quite varied . this usually depends on their level of fame . the more underground artists tend to wear more casual clothing where the more famous artists tend to be much more formal.the backgrounds of the cover images also tend to vary quite a lot . this is mostly to do with the magazine itself . the more well known magazines tend to be quite plain and look more consistent and professional . whereas the smaller magazines tend to be more creative and unique.
